Hotel San Cristobal is near Todos Santos in Baja California, Mexico - a stunning coastal stretch of mountains and desert, surrounded by enormous ancient cacti. This branding for Bunkhouse Hotels takes inspiration from the local environment, traditional Mexican design and 1970s Californian beach culture.
Local hand-painted signage inspired the typography, from which we created a custom hand-drawn alphabet for the hotel. We applied it to tiled signage and custom ceramic tabletops.
We also developed a second graphic identity for the hotel's farm-to-table restaurant, Benno - named after the patron saint of fishermen - historically represented with a fish and a key.
Scope: Full brand identity & custom typography, menus, print collateral, matchbooks, signage & wayfinding, uniforms, retail items, poster art.
