The Hotel Saint Vincent dates from 1864, and we wanted to honor its fascinating history and character. It was once an orphanage run by nuns, founded by legendary benefactor Margaret Haughery. The logo of Saint Vincent with children represents the nurturing spirit that has pervaded there ever since.
The branding was heavily inspired by 1970s Italian Modernism, and by the Vienna Secession movement of the 1890s. It has a decadent and psychedelic lushness, but also a formal elegance typical of the turn of the 20th century, and features ornamentation from old New Orleans.
The scallop neon sign is reminiscent of the shell symbol found in original architectural features such as the ironwork railings.
Scope: Full brand identity for both hotel and its restaurant San Lorenzo, menus, print collateral, matchboxes, neon signage & ironwork signage, wayfinding, retail items, graphics for website animation, custom plateware.
